Dionysis Pantis is a conductor and a pianist. He was born in Thessaloniki where he graduated from the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki (Piano Diploma) with honors and the award for performance of excellence (Class of Annia Hadjisymeonidou). He has also attended courses by the world famous pianist Victor Merzhanov, Domna Evnouhidou and seminars by George Thimis, Charalampos Angelopoulos and others. He has participated, as pianist, in many concerts, has won prizes and has been distinguished in many competitions.
He has collaborated as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and he has given recitals, chamber music concerts and Liederabend at several cities of Europe as the alternative stage of Stavros Niarchos Foundation (Athens, Piano Festival 2018), Municipal House of Culture Zgorzelec (Poland), Klemperersaal SLUB Dresden, Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Ausstellungszentrum Pyramide Berlin and others. Since 2017 he has been a member of the ensemble “Piandaemoniun” (6 pianos – 12 pianists).
He studied orchestra conducting under the guidance of Prof. Georg Christoph Sandmann in the Hochschule für Musik “Carl Maria von Weber” in Dresden and attended lessons accompaniment Lied by the world famous baritone Olaf Bär. He continues his studies in the postgraduate program in orchestra conducting under the guidance of Prof. Ekkehard Klemm.
He has conducted orchestras such as Sinfonietta Dresden, Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen, Sächsische Bläserphilarmonie, Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Εrzgebirgische Philharmonie, Philharmonisches Orchester Plauen Zwickau, Robert Schumann Philharmonie Chemnitz, North Bohemian Philharmonic Teplice, Symphony Orchestra of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and others. Since May 2019, he has been the permanent conductor of the wind instrument ensemble “Freundenkreis der Landesbühnen” of Sachsen.
He has participated in international masterclasses with conductors and orchestras such as Christian Thielemann with Staatskapelle Dresden at the Semperoper Dresden, Rüdiger Bohn with State Symphony Orchestra of Lithuania, Colin Metters with Berlin Sinfonietta, Uros Lajovic with State Symphony Orchestra of Plovdiv and Michalis Oikonomou (3rd International Masterclass of Athens) with “Philarmonia” Orchestra of Athens.
He worked as assistant to the world-famous maestro of Baroque music Wolfgang Katscher, in the opera ‘Alcina’ by Händel as well as the conductor Ekkehard Klemm and conducted the musical ‘November im Blues’ by Karsten Gundermann.
Since May 2022 he has regular cooperation with the “Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie Schönebeck” and Jan Michael Horstmann as an assistant conductor and took part in 24th and 25th Schönebecker Operettensommerfestival where he conducted the “The Merry Widow” of Franz Lehar and the “Das Feuerwerk” of Paul Burkhard.
