Stefanos Thomopoulos

After studying at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and the Musikhochschule in Cologne, he studied in the class of J. Rouvier and M. F. Bucquet at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. A recipient of various awards in competitions and selected by Blüthner, Yamaha and Kempff institutes, he has given concerts in Europe, the USA, China, Brazil and Japan, in halls such as the Philharmonie in Paris, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Opera of Monaco, Alti Hall in Kyoto, the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls, Epidaurus Theater and Sala Cecilia Mireiles in Rio de Janeiro. He has appeared as a soloist with the Orchestras of Belgrade, Odessa, Cyprus, Nice, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Cairo Opera Orchestra and all the major Greek orchestras. He has recorded 7 records, including Xenakis’ work for piano (Timpani) and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 arranged for piano and string quintet (Chant de Linos). He is the first pianist to have completed a Doctorate in Performance at the Paris Conservatoire and from 2010 he holds the posts of professor and director of the piano department at the Conservatoire National de Nice.
